The Aralam resettlement area in Kannur is alloted to adivasis after the kudilkettu protest in 2001.
The distribution of land delayed until 2006.
Many adivasis intruded the deserved land and some of them left their houses due to inhabitable conditions.
Slowly the area became a buffer zone in between forest and town.
14 people were killed over the last ten years by elephant attacks,including one in 2023.
